Water fun all year round at these Columbus area waterparks


When temperatures get hot the city goes on the hunt for a little relief and that means heading to any one of the four of waterparks in the Columbus Ohio area. Check out our list (in no particular order).

1. Fort Rapids Ohio Indoor Water Park & Resort

With 277 guest rooms, 60 suites and 11 room styles to choose from there is are lot of options to customize your little getaway to Fort Rapids located on Columbus' east side. Fort Rapids even offers jacuzzi suites and kids bunk bed rooms.

The climate controlled, 84 degree indoor water park is great for fun all year-round. The waterpark boasts 12 water rides, 1,000 gallon tipping bucket and an arcade. Don't miss Shoot Out Racer, where the first one through the tube slide wins.

2. Zoombezi Bay Waterpark

Located directly across The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Zoombezi Bay is one wild, outdoor water park. The entire site is 22-acre with 17 water slides, a wave pool, action river, lazy river, kiddie play pool and private cabanas.

Some of the high attraction rides include:

Dolphin Dash: Starting from a 49-foot tower, up to six guests can compete in this head-first, mat racing, high speed attraction. This slide has a length of 310 feet and is longer than a football field.

Cyclone: Dropping from a 55-foot start to reach unmatched speeds of 20 mph, this extreme four-person raft cruises into the largest enclosed reducing -radius tunnel in the world. This is sure to be the most exciting and popular ride in the park. The Cyclone stretches 209 feet in length. Raft transport is complimentary and starts from the same tower as the Tahitian Twister.

If you get hungry - which you will - there are 10 different eateries and stands to tempt your tummy including an adults only cocktail area.

3. CoCo Key Water Resort

This Newark, Ohio year-round 50,000 sq. ft. indoor water park is also kept at 84 degrees. Special rides include Parrot’s Perch, zero depth entry area for swimmers under 48” and water cannons.
Don't miss Coral Reef Cavern, a cool activity pool with lily pads, water basketball and animated coral reef backdrop.
The site also just opened the Quest Arcade.
Don't forget to bring your towel from home in an effort to green the resort (and likely save a ton of money) towels are not provided for guests. If you're staying at the hotel, however, you can simply snag one from the room.

4. Splash Harbor

Located in Bellville Ohio, Splash Harbor has a 49-foot looping water slide, dumping buckets, shooting geysers, water basketball hoops, a floating raft and kids pool area. With a room reservation, four water park passes are included and guests are also treated to free continental breakfast, weekday newspaper, arcade and bicycle rental for a 20-mile bike path next to the hotel.
