On September 27, American Idol winner Jordin Sparks will take center stage at one of Columbus premier horse competitions and family events the New Albany Classic Invitational Grand Prix and Family Day. Hannah Montana star Mitchel Musso opens for Sparks.
The New Albany Classic is a day-long family event and horse show hosted by Abigail Wexner at the Wexner place in New Albany. 100 percent (100%) of the Classics proceeds go to the Columbus Coalition Against Family Violence. Activities this year include:
- Carnival rides and games;
- The Tween Brands Concert featuring Sparks, Musso and the OSU Marching Band;
- Crafts for kids;
- The New Albany Classic Invitational Grand Prix. This year, 30 of North Americas top professional riders and horses compete. See rider-horse photos from last year.
Tickets must be gotten before arriving at the event. Tickets for people 13 and older are $15. Tickets are free to children 12 and under, but all free tickets must be gotten when purchasing adult tickets. No one can enter the grounds without a ticket. An all-day ride bracelet for children and adults is $5. Tickets are available via ticketmaster.com. (Hint: You may be able to save service charges by picking tickets up at Easton Town Center Guest Services, Equus Now! in Lewis Center, or New Albany Realty Offices ta 220 Market St. in New Albany.)

10 a.m.: Gates open.11:30 a.m.: Tween Brand Concert. The OSU Marching band, cheerleaders and Brutus begin. Musso is next, then Sparks.
1 p.m.: Welcoming ceremony.
1:30 p.m.: New Albany Classic Invitational Grand Prix competition begins.
3:30 p.m.: Awards presentation scheduled.
5 p.m.: Classic and Family Day ends.
