The National Road (US 40) east of Columbus--Zanesville and eastward--is filled with pieces of history that preserve images of the original road.
The National Road/Zane Grey Museum, located along US 40/22 between Zanesville and Cambridge, honors much of this history with its exhibits and more.
The National Road/Zane Grey Museum features exhibits in three areas:
- The National Road, "Main Street of America"
- Zane Grey, Zanesville author known as "Father of the Adult Western"
- Ohio art pottery, once a major product of the Cambridge/Zanesville area as well as other portions of eastern Ohio.

The museum is operated by the Ohio Historical Society, so there is an admission charge unless you are a member of the historical society. Hours vary, so call ahead first. School tours are welcome.
