Featuring lots of stuff from small town America (including Ashville), the museum's claim to fame is that 1950's B-movie space-monster looking thing in their front window. No, it's not an invader, but instead is the nation's oldest working traffic light.
Pictured at right, the light featured a rotating hand sweeping across each bulb to let motorists know how much time is left before the light changes. The light was in use in downtown Ashville until 1982, when the Ohio Dept. of Transportation insisted it be replaced with a standard model.
The museum, founded in 1978, features the light along with Ashville history, moon dust, and lots of "neat stuff" from small town America over the past 100 years or so.
Visiting Ashville itself is a blast from the past; the sleepy little town located just a couple miles off US 23 features lots of old homes, a traditional small-town downtown area, and feels like a step back in time.
