Longaberger Baskets

Dresden and a Golf Course

By John Kazalia, About.com

"The Basket Capital of the World" is also a quaint little town approximately 50 miles east of Columbus and 20 miles east of Newark. Dresden, a one-time canal town, is now home of 1,581 residents, 87 businesses, three museums, and the world's largest basket.

A Dresden map shows a Longaberger restaurant and store along with numerous craft, pottery, and gift shops. If you visit Dresden you'll find baskets galore since The Longaberger Company helped pay for a village restoration project.

Dresden--and this portion of rural Ohio in general--is one of your guide's favorite places to visit. It is a relaxing walk back in time in a rural, rolling-hills setting.

The Golf Course

The Longaberger Web site describes the Longaberger Golf Club this way:
Nestled atop the rolling hills of east central Ohio, Longaberger Golf Club opened in the spring of 1999 to rave reviews from golfers of all skill levels. Golf industry experts were also impressed, as Golf Magazine rated our course as one of the 10 best public courses in America in a recent issue!

This par-72 course features five sets of tees and measures nearly 7,300 yards from the championship tees and 5,000 yards from the forward tees. Fore more information visit BestCoursestoPlay.com featuring course statistics and comments from golfers, or contact the Longaberger Golf Club at (740) 763-1100.

The Longaberger Golf Club is located at the intersection of State Routes 16 and 146, halfway between the Longaberger Headquarters in Newark and the manufacturing campus.
