Columbus Ohio skylineParenting Magazine has included Columbus Ohio in its 2011 Best Cities for Families. Columbus ranks #22 and honestly I think that's a little low. Columbus is still the underrated gem of the Midwest for families. Let's take a look at all the great things Columbus has to offer families:

The #1 Zoo in the Country. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is not only a great place to visit, it has an excellent camp program for kids. There are several different family deals for membership that not only lasts all year, it will get families into participating zoos at discount.

A fantastic park system. The Columbus area has wonderful green space made up of Metro parks and City of Columbus parks. Whether you are interested in hiking, boating, bike riding or watching movies under the stars our parks rock!

The Arts. Columbus has world class museums that offer something for everyone, especially the newly remodeled Center for Creativity at the Columbus Museum of Art. Filled with hands-on activities for families and birthday party options, the museum is just one way Columbus caters to families.

Free events for families. Columbus is a great place to raise kids because of the great neighborhoods and because many of the events and activities in Columbus are free. Whether families are trying to stay cool in the summer time heat or looking for a place to burn off energy - Columbus is a great place to be.

What makes Columbus special for your family?
