North Market - Delicious Fun

This weekend on a cold, part rainy, part hail, overcast, sunny, snow flurry day - you know, typical Central Ohio spring - the North Market was the place to be for Saturday shoppers and weather weary Columbusites.Hubert's red pepper salad

Not that weather affects attendance at the popular Short North attraction. Warm weather weekends brings in droves of people who desire the freshest produce and goods from local farmers at the weekly farmer's market event. Rainy and cold weather makes the market a refuge with enough sights, activities and yummy eats to entertain every shopper.

When we arrived, we were surrounded by casual shoppers, foodies and a lot of cheerleaders - there was a big cheerleading competition at the convention center a few blocks away. The crowd was so thick it was difficult to see everything the Market had to offer and I quickly realized it was impossible to believe we could sample every one of the 35 merchants who lay claim to a section of the market.

One reason I love being the guide for Columbus is I get to see new and exciting places around the city and I have a reason to revisit old favorites, including Pure Imagination Chocolatier. The last time I visited the market they were the new shop on the block. The owner, Daniel and I had a long conversation about, what else? Chocolate. Our love affair for it was mutual, though I am strictly a consumer and he was and still is the passionate chocolate magician.

After hitting Pure Imagination, Flavors of India and Hubert's Polish Kitchen my tummy cried 'Uncle!' So I'll have to make the difficult choice to go back and make another attempt to take in all the North Market has to offer. Stay tuned for a review of the eateries mentioned this week!

Who is your favorite North Market merchant?
