Today, August 7 is National Lighthouse Day. Created in 1989, it marked the 200th anniversary of the creation of the Federal Lighthouse Act and the commissioning of the first American lighthouse. Those of us in Ohio are well award that lighthouses are not limited to the east and west coast. The Great Lakes, including Lake Erie, offer some of the most intriguing and historic of America's lighthouses. Here is just a sample of the lighthouses of Lake Erie.
