There's something fresh and exciting about college football...and around these parts that means Ohio State Football. The Big Ten Conference team rarely disappoints and there's just a certain energy found with college games that you just don't get in the NFL. The 2010 season kicks off on September 4 in Columbus against Marshall University (Huntington, WV). For more about the Buckeyes, see:

I need some help. Back in the early 2000′s I attended a dinner hosted by the Kenton Ohio Athletic Boosters. The purpose of the dinner was to raise money for our athletics dept. Many people donated items to be auctioned off. I was involved in a bidding war with several people over what I considered the best item up for grabs. A Wilson’s NCAA Ohio State football signed “Go Bucks! J Tressel. It was also signed by a person whose first name looks like it begins with an “M” in script that comes down with a line that goes straight across, no other letters; The last name looks like it could start with the letter “C” or even an “L” thought it looks more like a “C” than and “L’, this is followed by a straight line (more or less) that at the end almost comes to a point but then goes up and arcs across with a curved line that’s as long as the last name itself Underneath the name is what could be an attempt at a star, possible initials, I can’t find words to describe it, but underneath that, is the number 13. This is driving me crazy. I need to find out the name of the other person who signed the ball. I am assuming the player who signed the ball wore jersey #13. This would be so much simpler if I could try to copy the signature on here. When I said it looked like a star underneath the name, well that’s not right. Picture someone writing the letter E in a capital letter but curvy instead of straight lines and inside the center of the long curvy capital E would be a capital A that is printed as well, but loopy as well. The best way to describe what is under this person’s name is to turn the ball so it is sitting on the tip. If you look at it from this angle, you see what looks like a capital “M” and inside the “M” is the number 8. If you were to draw this and then turn the paper sideways (like turning the ball the way it is supposed to be, on it’s side) you would have a general idea of what is drawn underneath this person’s signature. Again, underneath this is simply 13. Gee this is really helpful isn’t it? My first thought was the signature was Maurice Clarett, and he did wear #13, but I don’t know if this is it. Does anyone know where I can find a list of everyone who wore the number 13 who played football from say 1985 to 2005? I think the year the football was purchased was 2002 or 2003, but I am trying to cover all my bases here. I bought this ball thinking, for some unknown reason, that the second signature was supposed to be Archie Griffin, but I may have had that confused with something else that was sold that night. I’ll be totally honest and say it was a long night and it was cold outside and I had a drink, maybe three, to keep me warm. I paid a very good sum of money for this football and I have a grandson who is playing his first year of football this year, he’s ten years old. Someday I want to be able to tell him who the people were who signed this football. He is already a huge Ohio State fan and I know he will stay that way. Hopefully this ball will one day be one of his most prized possessions, well the ball and three or four superbowl championship rings, LOL, one can dream. Anyway if anybody can help me with this quandry I have here. Again, I need the names of all players who took the field on game days wearing the number 13 jersy from 1985-2005 for the Ohio State Buckeyes Football Team. Any help you all might be able to give me will be so very much appreciated. Thank youl
