If you're a fan of Detroit's old muscle cars, head for the Mopar Nationals this weekend, August 7-9, at National Trail Raceways. National Trail Raceways is in Hebron, just east of Columbus on US-40 between RT. 158 and US-37 (search for 2650 National Rd SW, Hebron, OH. 43025 in Mapquest).
Over 3000 cars -- including famous race cars and lots of pre-1985 Chrysler and AMC "show cars" with fins -- will pack the lots. “Big Daddy” Don Garlits and his Sidewinder will be there, along with "Big" Willie Robinson of Street Racing fame. There are 2000 vendor spaces, a Car Corral, Manufacturer Midway, new models, drag racing, a Matchbox competition for the under-10 set, judged car show, Fun Field and the Mopar Classic Car & Memorabilia Auction. And, if you want to cruise for a little, Columbus has plenty of things to do.
Mopar Nationals runs Friday-Sunday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Cost:
One-day spectator pass: $20
Two-day spectator pass: $30
Three-day spectator pass: $40
Parking is $5 in Lots A & C or Free in Lots F & G.
