Wednesday September 3, 2008

Coach Tressel probably wasn't clapping at the news that he is one of the lowest paid coaches in college football.

Well, with the power of football what it is in Columbus, before you can say Michigan game Tressel is now one of the highest paid coaches in college football. Read more about it at this article.

Poor guy! Although to be fair, Tressel has donated a lot of money to Ohio causes. For more about Tressel, including his books and more, visit pricegrabber.com.

Architecture in Columbus

Saturday August 30, 2008

What?!? A book on architecture in Columbus, Ohio? I didn't know there was enough left to fill a whole book. But, what do you know, there is.

The AIA Guide to Columbus says "despite the loss of some important historical structures over the years, Columbus still offers a rich variety of historical and contemporary architecture." The book proves this point with photos and brief descriptions of the obvious (Statehouse, Ohio Theater) to the not-so-obvious (The Borden Building described as plain and severe, Eddie Rickenbacker's house reported to become a museum).

Broken down by neighborhoods, The AIA Guide to Columbus finds interesting architecture from German Village to Grandview, from downtown to Worthington. Newer suburbs, as you may guess, are generally lacking.

If you're like me and love interesting buildings, and like looking at what is left in Columbus, The AIA Guide to Columbus is a great book. Buy one at pricegrabber.com.
